I help people who help people.
During one of the many trainings I have done with you at the Guild the following experience happened.
I don’t remember names or how the conversation started, but I do remember the lesson I learned.
We were gathered around and intently listening as you were teaching when a student spoke up. Now, this student would likely fall under the category of “difficult”, they liked to speak out of turn, asked irrelevant questions, and was just plain annoying. As she interrupted we (the other students) took a breath and tried not to openly roll our eyes.
You did the opposite. You looked her in the eye and told her how much you loved her, how special she was, how much she had to offer the group, how important she was to those around her. In that moment I saw her through your eyes… I saw her they way God sees her, not annoying but loved.
I learned such a powerful lesson that day. Not just the influence we have as the teacher, but how we should really see those around us. You changed her life and my life that day. I continue to think about that lesson and often ask myself how am I “seeing” this person. Thank you. ~ Teacher Training student
